Journey To Freedom

Birds are, in my view, the perfect metaphor for the democratic citizen, creatures that thrive on individual liberty, yet depend entirely on the collective, synchronized movement to navigate the storm. A flock of birds moves direction instantly in response to danger or environmental cues. This, to me, is the conception of a functioning and responsive  democracy, a diverse collective body that acts not through coerced conformity, but through shared and innate awareness. I want my audience to look at the birds and see themselves, not as passive observers, but as active participants in the "aviary" of our society. My work, The Journey To Freedom,  is a call to rouse the free bird within us all.
